About the event
For Students Entering Grades 7, 8, 9, 10 in 2021-22
How do Google and Facebook make money? How is it that we get so much software/services/apps for free? Who creates them, why are they doing it, and who is paying for everything? How is it possible to make money from free services?
A large fraction of the modern internet and software business runs on free software and services. This course will give students an understanding of the new economics of the world they are growing up in (where the rules from their parents' generation don't apply). They will learn to understand and appreciate the economics of "free", the "attention" economy, and the "reputation" economy, and how to navigate and thrive in this new world.
