About the event

For students in Grades 8, 9, 10, from any Board (CBSE/ IB/ IGCSE/ ICSE, etc.)

Many young students are passionate about making the world a better place. They feel strongly about local, national and global crises like food, water, climate change, pollution and so on. Some of these students have also started thinking about the direction their higher education and careers should take. Apart from the traditional options like engineering and medicine, there are now coveted ‘Liberal Arts’ programmes in the country. Which of these options should one pursue if one wants to make the world a better place?

This course helps students to cut through the artificial compartments of subjects and disciplines and start seeing an issue as a whole rather than as fragments. The world around us and most of the challenges we face into the future, as a planet, cannot be broken down into neat compartments of sciences and humanities. The relationships that shape our world are lost in this process of fragmentation. The facilitator will help students appreciate how multiple perspectives from diverse fields (e.g. Science, Engineering, Sociology, History, Law, Psychology etc.) are needed to respond to complex situations- using real-life examples.

The primary goal of this course is to help students take an integrated view of realities from diverse perspectives. Working with the facilitator and course material might also help students to clarify their passions and interests and make more informed decisions about what they choose to do in life.
