The 'academic' component of the EE Program covers multiple pillars of the GenWise Curriculum. These curricular elements will be covered over 2 weeks (4-5 hrs/ day), as follows:
-
Week 1: Mathematics, Science, Design and Technology (STEM Focus)
-
Week 2: Nature, Society &Individual; Tools for Thinking & Communication (Humanities Focus)

Please click on each week to know (MUCH) more...

While children are free to pick either week, we strongly recommend a balanced exposure to the content over both weeks.

About the event
For students in Grades 8, 9, 10, from any Board (CBSE/ IB/ IGCSE/ ICSE, etc.)
We were inspired by some recent posts on Social Media about the excessive focus on methods/ short-cuts/ speed, as opposed to foundational understanding. There's plenty of research about typical conceptual gaps in students' understanding at at various age/ grade levels. Our blog post, Conceptual Learning: What, Why and How, provides a more detailed background.Â
With this starting point, our mentors sat down to curate a list of such areas that students could do well to have a deep, foundational understanding of, that they can build on, over time. We have identified such topics across Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Math.
For each topic, the student experience includes pre-work, live sessions with mentors, assignments/ assessments, and feedback. In addition, students can email their doubts and questions to the mentor at any point of time during the course, as also join small-group ‘doubt-clearing’ sessions, scheduled twice a month.
The content has been chosen based on a knowledge of common student misconceptions and errors- derived from research as well as the experience base of our mentors. Apart from the ‘content topics’, general ‘scientific literacy’ skills will also be covered.Â
The course comprises 25 sessions of 1.5 hours each, starts on Sep 12, 2020, and will end towards the end of Jan 2021. There will be 1 session every Saturday typically (1130 AM to 1 PM); there may be 1-2 additional sessions every month, which will be scheduled on a Sundays/ Public Holidays.
The course is NOT a tuition service aimed at preparation for exams. These courses are also NOT a substitute for school work.
