Who this Program is NOT for

​

If you are concentrating your energies on the NEET/ JEE assembly line, this experience is probably not for you. This program is for students who are willing to be more open about the possibilities, interested in a much better balance between Domain Expertise and Horizontal Skills, and keen to be aware of - and follow - one’s own self-expression (“svadharma”).

 

This is also not a College Counseling experience, although the deliverables from this program are expected to strongly complement the students’ portfolio.

The Experience

​

There will be multiple elements of experience for the participant:

1. Sessions around career planning; understanding one’s unique personality and self-expression; appreciate the difference between “having a career” versus “performing in your career”; inter-disciplinary options; possibilities around career evolution (the current India Chairman of Accenture started his career as a chef at the Oberoi)

2. Sessions on the horizontal skills : Communication, Collaboration, Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, and Leadership

3. Obtain a high-level overview of chosen domain (via pre-reads, pre-work, and in-person)

4. Apply all of the above in the delivery of a Project of your choice*, in the chosen domain*

5. Over 3 magical weeks, experience being in a world-class academic campus that is Manipal Academy of HIgher Education, an Institution of Eminence, with its 30,000 students, state-of-the-art infrastructure/ programs/ labs/ workshops/ alumni**, on this Career Discovery & Planning Program, facilitated by world class GenWise mentors, and is part of a larger Summer Residential Program with 120+ students from 40+ schools around the country, including from 20+ cities.

* Every effort will be made to accommodate student interest and choice of Project; however it may not be possible to meet them to the letter

* Projects can meet all the expectations from the IBO for Internal Assessments in multiple subjects, including Math and the Sciences

Projects in each domain will be decided after speaking to registered participants, understanding their specific needs, discussing with our mentors, and finalised no later than April 30 (May Program) and June 30 (July Program).

* We will be happy to consider additional domains, should there be interest from a small group of participants.

Program Deliverables

​

• Aptitude Assessment

• Blog post on the GenWise Substack (3000+ subscribers), describing the entire experience

• (Potential) Showcasing of project presentations to domain leaders

• A GitHub presence, to the extent software development is part of the Project

• To the extent the project definitions fit into the mandatory requirements of the IBO for Internal Assessments in Maths or the Sciences, this provides a head-start to the students

• Certificate from GenWise/ Manipal Academy of Higher Education

• Fee: Rs 186,000 (inclusive of 18% GST)

  • Early Bird price of Rs 150,000 (incl of GST), if registration completed by Apr 1, 2024 (for May Program)

• Dates : On-site during May 8-29, 2024 (and July 10-31, 2024)

• Grades: Open to all students currently enrolled in Grades 10/11/12 (AY 2023-24)

• Stay : Student Hostels, MAHE, Manipal (Twin Sharing AC rooms)

• Device Free Program (except when devices are required in the performance of the Program)
